DNV GL's Joint Industry Project “Offshore wind turbines in service”
DNV GL will introduce the joint industry project Offshore wind turbines in service including the project objectives, scope and deliverables. The aim of the project is to answer the following questions:

  • What is the right frequency for inspections (e.g. every 2, 4 or 6 years)?
  • What extent of inspections is needed (e.g. 20% of all welds)?
  • What are the most efficient examination methods for offshore inspection (e.g. diver versus diving robot)?
  • How do we want to report conformity with existing standards?
  • How can we use the data gained up to now from the monitoring?

DNV GL's Joint Industry Project “Intelligent lifetime extension for wind turbines”
DNV GL will introduce the joint industry project Intelligent lifetime extension for wind turbines including the project objectives, scope and deliverables. The intended scope for this JIP is to develop a new method for determination of the remaining lifetime of wind turbines from SCADA and CMS data having the following Milestones:

  • Evaluation, which data is available for different representative wind turbine types
  • Evaluation, which calculation procedures are suitable for an intelligent lifetime extension model
  • Development of a routine to extract specific data from the measured SCADA and CMS data
  • Development of routines to transfer the extracted data into values or factors, which can be directly, implemented into the lifetime calculations
  • Development of values or factors to characterize the reliability of a part by using data from various sources. These values or factors can be directly implemented into the lifetime calculations too
  • Verification of the lifetime model using SCADA and CMS data from a real wind turbine
