Our Flex Power Grid Lab is an ideal facility for testing the characteristics, efficiency, accuracy and overall performance of active, sinusoidal and resistive harmonic filters for grid connection. It provides all the necessary electrical boundary conditions to test your equipment under simulated, yet realistic grid conditions.
- Testing capacity at low and medium voltage up to 1 MVAR
- High bandwidth to create voltage and current harmonics up to 2.4 kHz
These tests are particularly valuable as ever more renewables are connected to grids through power electronics, which are well known sources of power quality distortions. This means power levels associated with distributed generation are rising and a growing number of power electronics interactions on the grid. Consequently, there are more power quality issues and a rise in total harmonic voltage distortions, requiring high performance filter technologies.
Tests and deliverables
During the test, we investigate the interaction between the grid and the connected (active) harmonic filter units, looking at harmonic filtering, filter quality, power quality, system stability and behaviour under fault conditions.
A KEMA Report of Performance is available on successful completion of test. Moreover, the test measurements can be used as input data for modelling or model validation purposes.
