The IEC 60870-5 series communication protocols are very popular all over the world for telecontrol and protection purposes. This workshop has been developed to offer telecommunications professionals the opportunity to obtain up-to-date information on the companion standard 104.
IEC 61850 is the standard currently used for modeling and engineering of electrical substations but also for the data communication within and between substations. It is optimized for efficient and reliable transfer of process data and commands within a substation. IEC 61850 has been designed for use over high-speed networks. With recent updates to the standard this workshop is designed to give you an introduction to the current status and ongoing activities within this standard. This workshop has been developed for both technology suppliers and utilities.
The 104 companion standard together with IEC 61850 is nowadays the data communication backbone for many utilities all over the world.
