IEC 61850 is the standard currently used for data communication within and modeling of electrical substations. It is optimized for efficient and reliable transfer of process data and commands within a substation. IEC 61850 has been designed for use over a high-speed network. This course has been developed for manufacturers and utilities and provides an introduction to IEC 61850.
